Medical and humanitarian mission to Gaza reportback (plus interview)

As soon as I entered the Unitarian Church on Thursday I was told they needed more chairs. I brought the chairs to the room where Dr. Ismail Mehr was presenting on his experience with the Islamic Medical Association of North America, which was overflowing with about 75 people. I took a seat at the doorway and watched him speak.

Silent No More (a group of women who have had abortions and are now anti-choice) is having a march at 1:00pm on Saturday the 28th from Our Lady of Victory Church to the University Ave. Planned Parenthood. Rochester SDS, along w/ other activists, is going to rally at 1:00pm at Planned Parenthood and show opposition to the march. Because this is short notice, tactics and details will be largely decided on site by the people there.

The ISO presents activist Sherry Wolf

SHERRY WOLF is a long time activist currently living in Chicago.
Member of the Editorial Board of International Socialist Review, Wolf
has written articles on a variety of topics ranging from the war in
Iraq to the struggle of women to gain access to abortion. Some recent

Guest speaker: William R. Baird of Eisenstadt v. Baird, the Supreme Court Decision that legalized birth control for unmarried people as well as married people

Known as a birth control crusader and the Father of the Abortion Rights Movement, in 1967 Bill Baird was convicted and sent to prison for giving birth control to unmarried people. He has appeared three times before the U.S.

Transgender People Remembered on International Day

Approximately 30 people, around noon, converged near the Liberty Pole in Downtown Rochester on November 20th to commemorate the 10th Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance exists, states the website RememberingOurDead.org, "…to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.

November 20th: Transgender Day of Remembrance

The 10th Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance is coming up on Thursday, November 20th. Several activities are being planned, which we hope you will consider attending.

At noontime on Thursday, there will be a gathering and vigil at the Liberty Pole in downtown Rochester to remember the dead and to call attention to the violence against transgender people. More details will follow.
