A huge crowd turned out for at ESL on State street this Thursday to protest their sponsorship of the Bob Lonsberry show. Demonstrators swarmed around the entrance to the ESL branch and made it clear that they did not want their money being used to sponsor his racist, sexist and classist statements.

At the peak of the demonstration there were about 50 people in front of the branch.

Anti-Racism Movement protests ESL, Bob Lonsberry

In response to WHAM’s continued denial of accountability and refusal to have Bob Lonsberry removed from their programming, Rochester’s Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) has begun a grassroots campaign to boycott all sponsors of the Bob Lonsberry show. On Saturday, June 26 ARM held the first of many visual demonstrations intended to do just that—to quite literally hit WHAM and its sponsors where it hurts: the bank.

Lonsberry's Racist, Sexist and Classist remarks

Below is a transcript of Bob Lonsberry's remarks on his show, June 10th where he attacked the women in the young mother's program, Rochester Black Scholars and people who support them.

There is a story about um “Girls who got pregnant in high school and they stay in high school and let’s give them a special award and tell them how proud we are of em.”

Or we could tell them they should have left their frickin pants on, right. Keep your legs together uh-sweet cheeks and everything will be ok.

See here is the deal.

Security Barrier cuts casulaties in Israel 90%

Yep. You are right- the security barrier has been tremendously effective in cutting back casualties- it is saving lives every day.

None the less- there are still attacks on Israel and the Jewish people:
Remember the massacre of 8 Jewish students in Jerusalem just a few months ago? The suicide bombing in Dimona? The daily barage of rockets from Gaza and the subsequent death and injuries?

Racist pig writes:

"There have been no Jewish people in Gaza except for soldiers since the Israeli pull out which happened more than 2 years ago."

Bingo!!! No occupation!

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
