Sexuality and eroticism has always been “offensive” to somebody. Especially is this so in this land of the blue-nose, which descended here from a long Christian paranoia of anything erotic and unclean. But where is this psychology of “erotophobia” mentioned in California’s latest crusade against anything that falls under the rubric of “sexual offender?”

Rochester is home to many dedicated activists and organizations, but sometimes it feels like we're fighting our struggles alone. Why isn't there more concrete, operational-unity, solidarity and support between Rochester activist groups? What links the work we are doing? How can we work towards unity and collective action?

Rochester Free School is hosting an Open House this Saturday December 5th from noon until 4 PM. You are welcome to stop by the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa Street to meet instructors and pitch your own class.

Everyone has knowledge to share, and the ability to share it with others. The Rochester Free School is a place to learn and teach in a way that encourages personal growth and community building.

Obama's field organizer for the Rochester area, sent out a e mail telling people that don't support the HR3962, that they are whiners. At a previous gathering, he made a comment that pro choice advocates in the same category as people who said that the bill created "death panels". I guess he was right, this bill will continue to let people die and women have lost more rights. Good job Democrats, you sure are changing things.

Renan Salgado, from the Trafficking Project of Farmworker Legal Services of New York, Inc. will speak about the problem of Human Trafficking in Monroe County this coming Monday evening. The event is being sponsored by the National Organization for Women, Greater Rochester Chapter, and the Reproductive Rights Committee of the First Unitarian Church.

The event is free and open to the public.
