This month's post-Critical Mass film screening will be "This Is What Democracy Looks Like." The film, hosted by Rochester SDS and the Flying Squirrel Community Space, is set to begin at 9:30pm at 285 Clarissa St (aka. the Flying Squirrel!).

In light of the upcoming G20 summit in Pittsburgh, PA (http://resistg20.org/), Rochester SDS is taking a glance ten years into the past.

This film, shot by 100 amateur camera operators, tells the story of the enormous street protests in Seattle, Washington in November 1999, against the World Trade Organization summit being held there.

Carl Kabat, longtime Ploughshares activist, has been arrested today after entering a nuclear missile fenced-in area with a hammer, intending to destroy the weapons.

His statement is below.

At around 3 AM in the the West Bank village of Bil'in on Monday morning Israeli soldiers stormed the village and raided the homes of many. 2 children were arrested and 5 adults including Mahammad Khatib, a member of the popular committee against the wall and settlements. The villagers were involved in non violent protest and their village has been raided by Israeli forces several times since June 29, 2009. There are currently 19 villagers in detention.

Naomi Klein, author of “The Shock Doctrine” spoke in support of the call made by Palestinian civil society for a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel while she was giving a speech in the West Bank town of Ramallah. She also talked about the Durban review conference that took place at the end of April in Durban, South Africa.

IS THIS REPORTED GAY SANTA MONICA COMMISSIONER JUST ONE BAD EXAMPLE OF A NEW POLICY IN AMERICAN FAMILY COURTS ALL ACROSS AMERICA OF DON'T ASK AND WE WON'T TELL ???

BOTH OF THESE CALLOUS STATES COULD EASILY AFFORD NEW TRIALS FOR THESE 2 MEN AND OBVIOUSLY COULD CARE LESS WHAT THE REST OF THE WORLD THINKS ABOUT THEIR STATES JUDICIAL SYSTEMS FUTURE EXECUTIONS OF POSSIBLE INNOCENT AMERICAN CITIZENS.
