Narrow Minded, Shallow Perspectives Will Only Add To Strained Relations

It is most interesting that sometimes when people apparently think that they are contributing to potential solutions regarding deep-seated, historic, sociopolitical issues and problems --- they actually end up fanning the flames and perpetuating the original causes. Ms. Jane Zicari's Letter below is a prime example of this reality. That is to say, where communities of color are concerned, one outstanding reason why it is so difficult to improve police-community relations is because of pervasive, undeserved, disdain on the part of many, many members of white communities, and automatic, blind loyalty to those who are human representatives of a system that was racist, sexist, classist, objectively evil and wicked --- right from the start!

The Racism of Ronnie Davis.........

Where is the proof for calling Ronnie Davis a " Reported " racist? Can we not assume for a minute, that standing up to someone who is in the wrong, if that individual is a minority, is not racist?

Dr. Paul Bermanzohn, a survivor of the Greensboro Massacre speaking in Rochester

In Greensboro, North Carolina, an anti-Klan march and educational conference were planned for Saturday, November 3, 1979.

Neither the march nor the conference ever occurred. Minutes before the march was to begin, a nine-car caravan carrying thirty-five heavily armed Klansmen and Nazis drove into the heart of Greensboro's black community where marchers were assembling. They opened fire on the crowd, killing five people and wounding eleven.

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
