At the River I Stand: Memphis, Tennessee. Spring 1968 marked the dramatic climax of the Civil Rights movement. At the River I Stand documents the transformation of a 65 day strike by 1,300 sanitation workers into a national struggle.
The film builds connections between civil rights & workers’ rights, racial & economic justice & explores how Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s support of the strikers made him a more despised target, ending in the tragedy of his death.
