10 Years Ago: Hundreds say no to US aggression

10 years ago the U.S. attacked the country of Iraq over lies that were repeatedly told to the people of the U.S. and the world. The mainstreet/corporate media played a large part of selling the Bush Administartions need for the invasion of Iraq. Rochester Indymedia and other independent media outlets in the U.S. and around the world spoke truth to power about the lies the governemnt warmongers were sayng and showing huge peace movement that had formed. The community of Rochester was part of that peace movement. As of today, no high ranking government official has been held accountable for the lies leading to the invasion, the torture of prisoners, the destruction of a country and the death of unknown numbers of Iraqis, U.S. militarypersons, contractors and militarypersons from other countries involved in the invasion.

About 200 people attended a lively demonstration against Bush's plans for War against Iraq Thursday evening at the Downtown Rochester Federal Building. The protest was called by a network of local community groups that are concerned about the Bush administration’s threats of more War. The demonstration was characterized by passionate dissent against Bush's drive towards war in Iraq. Participants marched the full block in front of the federal building with banners demanding an end US Aggression. One protester described her participation in the event: “it feels good to join others in saying no to this Insanity, especially after the hypocrisy of Bush’s speech to the UN this morning.
