Indymedia Uncut: Good, Lightfoot, Frazier Confront City Newspaper's Lack of Coverage and Misinformation
Primary tabs
On Friday, July 8, at 11:00AM, Emily Good, Willie Joe Lightfoot, and Donald Frazier met with City Newspaper editor Christine Carrie Fien and journalist Jeremy Moule to discuss City Newspaper's lack of coverage around the issues of racial profiling, police accountability, and citizens' rights. Good also wanted to question Fien about her unresearched and libelous editorial--"Emily Good and a Series of Unfortunate Events"--that was published on July 6, 2011. Emily Good was arrested on May 12 for video taping a traffic stop in front of her home and charged with obstruction of governmental administration. Her charge was withdrawn by the DA for lack of evidence. Willie Joe Lightfoot, a Rochester firefighter and county legislator was arrested on May 4 after he spoke against police threatening to punch a detained person in the face. The person Lightfoot was speaking up for was in handcuffs. Lightfoot was standing outside of his store on Jefferson Ave. when he was arrested. He was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, failure to blow into a breathalyzer, disorderly conduct, and DWI. He plead to DWI even though he was neither drunk nor driving. Donald Frazier has seen and worked on these issues with other community members for years. This Indymedia Uncut video runs about an hour and ten minutes.
