Loria has successfully sued the City of Rochester and various members and former members of the Rochester Police Department four separate times in Federal Court back in the 1990’s for violating his civil rights. Loria currently has a 5th, 6th, and 7th lawsuit against the City and certain members of the Rochester Police Department pending in Federal Court.
What: Press Conference held by Theodore “Teddy” Loria who is demanding that Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard immediately hold accountable by way of suspension with pay R.P.D. Officers Rob Osipovitch & Ryan Hartley regarding the release of a video-tape which exposes and confirms both said officers lied in their police reports and also committed perjury in front of a Monroe County Grand Jury in addition to racial profiling of Jermie Barideaux by shining the police cars’ spot-light on his vehicle while stopped at the intersection prior to being stopped.
Attendees: Teddy Loria, Jeramie Barideaux, and all concerned citizens.
Where: Rochester Police Headquarters
Public Safety Building
185 Exchange Blvd.
When: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday September 5, 2012.
The issue of police officers submitting false police reports and racial profiling happens here in Rochester on a daily basis. Once again said video-tape clearly proves that certain members of the Rochester Police Department do act this way here in Rochester, New York.
Actions speak louder than words.
Rochester N.Y. Police Chief James Sheppard’s actions definitely contradict his words. After the public Police Civilian Review Board Hearing on August 23, 2012, Chief Sheppard said to the local media outlets that he wanted the citizens of Rochester to judge him by his integrity as a human being first and secondly as Chief.
This is extremely hard for citizens of Rochester N.Y. to do based on the fact that last year in 2011 Chief Sheppard suspended with pay a long time black Homicide Investigator named Randy Benjamin for alleged misconduct until an internal investigation was completed; but this year in 2012 Chief Sheppard refuses to take any disciplinary action whatsoever, like the same disciplinary action in the case referred to above, against two white Officers named Rob Osipovitch and Ryan Hartley despite being caught submitting false police reports in a serious felony case involving Jeramie Barideaux which was corroborated by video footage from a City owned “Red-Light” camera which eventually led to Monroe County Court Judge Daniel Doyle to dismiss the charges.
Official Statement:
Not only does the Rochester Police Department treat black citizens differently than white citizens, they treat black officers different than white officers.
“Every Rochester police officer, regardless of rank, need to be held accountable for their actions.”
