The Appalachian Public Interest Environmental Law (APIEL) conference brings together activists, attorneys, scientists, students and concerned citizens working for environmental justice throughout Appalachia and the surrounding states. The weekend conference will feature a series of panels, workshops and dialogues led by grassroots activists, lawyers and scientists with the goal of exchanging information, sharing skills, and fostering collaboration between the grassroots, the bar, and future lawyers and policy-makers. Workshops will address the region's most pressing ecological problems, as well as the underlying laws, policies and institutional dynamics that have enabled these issues to occur.
Please note that need-based conference registration scholarships can be applied for through your registration form, and they will be granted on a first-come-first-serve basis to those who qualify.
Join us as we continue to strengthen and build community for the Eastern United States' forces of public interest environmental law, science and policy. See more at www.apiel.org, and please pass it on!

Help us maximize APIEL 2011 by circulating this announcement to all listservs, facebook pages, and friends you can think of!

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
