Band of Rebels is sponsoring a protest against Bank of America from 12:00 - 1:00 PM on Monday, August 29 at Liberty Pole Plaza <!--break--> Band of Rebels Civic Action Press Advisory For: Contact: Monday, August 29, 2011 Grania Marcus 917-579-0199 Rally on Monday August 29nd from 12:00-1:00 PM Location: Bank of America Liberty Pole Plaza (East & Main) The Band of Rebels is sponsoring a protest against Bank of America’s attack on the middle class, calling for an end to bail-outs and tax loop holes for a company that helped inflate the budget deficit and plunged our country into the Great Recession. Bank of America , the largest bank in the country, holding over 2.2 trillion dollars in assets, paid no federal income taxes in 2009 or 2010. In fact, it got tax benefits of 2.3 billion dollars in 2009 and 1.9 billion dollars in 2010, even though it made 4.4 billion dollars in profits in 2009 and over 3 billion in 2010. How can this be? With powerful lobbyists and massive campaign contributions, the banking industry has been influencing lawmaking for many decades, dismantling regulations and changing tax laws to benefit them. What we have now is a mockery of justice and a lopsided and growing burden on the working class.
