U.S. Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander notes that Billy Wharton is his choice for White House Chief of Staff because “he is for the people.” As Co-Chairperson for the Socialist Party USA, Wharton has demonstrated strong leadership mobilizing the left to stop cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Recently, Wharton spoke-out against raising the U.S. debt ceiling and has spoken against cutting U.S. debt on the backs of working people. Wharton has been a national leader in defense of education and has been an out-spoken critic of U.S. military aggression.

With only 15 months before the 2012 General Election, U.S. Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander has added another member to his proposed White House staff. Once again, leaning to the far left to make his selection, Stewart Alexander says socialist Billy Wharton would be his choice as the White House Chief of Staff.

Billy Wharton is 42 years old and is the National Co-Chairperson of the Socialist Party USA; he resides in New York City. Billy Wharton is a democratic socialist politician. Wharton is a writer, activist and serves as the editor of The Socialist and the Socialist WebZine.

According to Wikipedia, Wharton is best known for his March 15, 2009 article entitled “Obama’s No Socialist. I Should Know.” In it, he sought to debunk right-wing commentators who claimed that President Barack Obama was a secret socialist. Billy Wharton is well known among socialists and the progressive left nationwide.

Alexander notes that Billy Wharton is his choice for White House Chief of Staff because “he is for the people.” As Co-Chairperson for the Socialist Party USA, Wharton has demonstrated strong leadership mobilizing the left to stop cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Recently, Wharton spoke-out against raising the U.S. debt ceiling and has spoken against cutting U.S. debt on the backs of working people. Wharton has been a national leader in defense of education and has been an out-spoken critic of U.S. military aggression.

In April, Alexander provided a preliminary glimpse at his choice for nominees to his White House Cabinet. For U.S. Vice President, Alexander chose Dan La Botz; Secretary of State, Laura Wells; Department of Defense, U.S. Congressman Dennis Kucinich; Department of Labor, Jack Gerson; Department of Commerce, Steve Zeltzer; Department of Health and Human Services, Gloria Mattera; Department of Energy, Charlie Peters; Department of Education, Vaughn Stull; Department of Veteran Affairs, Debra Sweet; and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Aziza Hasan.

Stewart Alexander has announced that he will seek the presidential nomination for the Socialist Party USA and the Peace and Freedom Party. In an effort to unite the progressive left, Alexander is also seeking support from the Freedom Socialist Party, the Liberty Union Party- Vermont, and support from progressive Greens.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
