On Friday, the Socialist Party USA National Committee selected California to host the National Convention for the Socialist Party USA. Following the NC vote, Greg Pason, the SPUSA National Chair, contacted Mimi Soltysik, the California State Chair, to deliver the exciting news.

Selecting California to host the National Convention will benefit the California Chapter of the Socialist Party in many areas. The Socialist Party of California began reorganizing in mid 2009. The Socialist Party California Chapter has focused on building the membership statewide, networking and communications. Lynn Lomibao, the California Co-Chair notes, being selected to host the Socialist Party National Convention “will benefit ongoing efforts to build the party.”

Mimi Soltysik says, “This is an opportunity for Californians and working people to make their voices heard. The SP California Chapter views the convention as an opportunity to bring the concerns of Californians and working people to the forefront; concerns regarding rising college tuitions, concerns of gays and lesbians, concerns of the unemployed, concerns of the homeless, unaffordable housing, inflation, rising gasoline prices and to express how Obama’s policies have failed Californians and the nation. We want this National Convention to be an instrument for change.”

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
