Panel discussion: Anti-war Activism, Then and Now
Wed. Oct. 20 7:00-9:00pm

Anti-war Activism, Then and Now. Join local peace activists, who have protested wars and conflicts from Vietnam to Iraq, for a discussion of the changes in the movement since the 1960s and where it stands now. Mara Ahmed is an activist filmmaker whose documentary The Muslims I Know was broadcast on WXXI in 2009. Steve Huff, a poet and fiction writer, is Director of Adult Education at Writers & Books. Brian Lenzo is a long-time antiwar activist, an online contributor to the political blog The Sitch.com and to Socialist Worker.org, and recently traveled to the Gaza Strip to witness the effects of Israel’s blockade of the territory. Moderator Jack Bradigan Spula is a freelance journalist, pianist, teacher, (non-combat) veteran and pacifist with three decades’ experience as an organizer and “grunt” in the antiwar, human rights and environmental movements.

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
