Indy TV Center for Disabiltiy Rights, Inc. Takes on the Monroe County Executive

On August 22, 2010, Center for Disability rights, Inc, CDR, was surprised when a letter was delivered from Monroe county in NY stating that the County was terminating a contract with them. the contract was for the specific program Consumer Directed Personal Assistance program,(CDPAP), which gives the consumers of the program control of managing their care. The county alleged several cases of neglect as reasons for the termination.
On August 26, 2010 CDR hald a forum a march to the Monroe county building and proceeded to set up an encampment. The encampment at the County Building lasted a week and only ended after the NYS Supreme Court Judge awarded CDR and consumers a 2 week stay. Here is their story.
