The 2010 Engendering Disaster Film Series aims to provide an intersectional feminist analysis of the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
Each day's screening will start at 4pm (locations and moderator for the day are listed below). Each film will last between an hour and an hour and a half long, discussion will be 15 to 20 minutes.
The series also serves as a site for public remembrance and is a continued call to action! Dr. Sekile Nzinga-Johnson, Director of Women & Gender Studies, will introduce the film series on Monday, April 5th.
Students in the WMS 205: Feminist Praxis course will introduce each film in the series, lead post film discussions, and reflect on their own experiences in post-Katrina New Orleans.
