Mark Nowak, Poet and Labor Activist, at RIT

Poet, photographer, and labor activist Mark Nowak will be at RIT on Tuesday March 30 as part of the tour for his new book, Coal Mountain Elementary, a photo-documentary volume on coal mining disasters in the US and China that Howard Zinn called "a stunning educational tool.” His previous book, Shut Up Shut Down (afterword by Amiri Baraka) was a finalist for the James Laughlin Prize (Academy of American Poets) and a NY Times "Editor's Choice."

Mark Nowak will be reading at 4 pm in the College of Liberal Arts Faculty Lounge (06-1251) at RIT.
Free and open to the public.

He will also be speaking at noon the same day in Professor Vincent Serravallo’s Sociology of Work class (12-3235).

Mark Nowak’s visit is sponsored by the English and Sociology departments and supported by an Interactive Learning Grant from RIT Student Affairs.
