Flying Squirrel to host Rochester Media Convergence on March 14
Primary tabs
Rochester Media Convergence
The Rochester Media Convergence is a day-Âlong conference for grassroots activist groups in Rochester to get together and get serious about making their voices heard. The Rochester Media Convergence is free and open to all. No media experience is necessary. We'll build our skills up as the day goes on.
Â
Goals of the Convergence:
- To learn media skills through creating our own stories.  Each participant in the Media convergence will create their own story.  As the day goes on, we will learn how to write articles, record audio, and tape video stories and immediately apply those skills.
- To develop skills to critically examine media.  We will learn how to see through the spin and frames of corporate mass-media.  We will discuss how we can create our own frames and tell our stories from our points of view.
- To work together to create media strategies.  We will discuss how we can make media part of our organizing work and how to integrate our efforts to create a unified media strategy.
