STOP MAYORAL CONTROL!

Dear City Resident:

The Rochester City Council will meet at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, January, 19th at Council Chambers, Room 302A of City Hall (30 Church Street, corner of North Fitzhugh Street). There will be an informational picket outside the building (dress warm!), followed by speakers who will address City Council in opposition to mayoral takeover of city schools. We need to let the mayor know that we are serious about being heard on this important issue that affects OUR CHILDREN!

Community Education Task Force will be joining NYSUT, BENTE, RTA, and other community leaders to raise public awareness about Mayor Duffy's proposed takeover of city schools.

STOP drastic cuts to education!

STOP playing politics with our students' education!

Speak to Rochester City Council. Call 428-7421 before 6pm on Tuesday to sign up (reference agenda item 14, youth accountability).

WHERE: Rochester City Council, 30 Church St.
WHEN: Tuesday, 1/19, 5:30 (picket), 7pm (city council meeting)

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
