Transition Towns training
Primary tabs
The challenges of peak oil, climate change and economic crisis are looming in the not-distant future. Instead of waiting for political leaders to act, many communities have taken the initiative to build community resilience and enhance the quality of life in their own region. The movement for transition towns started in England but has spread worldwide, with the nearest being Montpelier, Vt. We have an easy opportunity to get involved, thanks to folks in Binghamton, NY organizing a training session- see below.

Welcome to Transition US
We are a nonprofit organization that provides inspiration, support, training, and networking for Transition Initiatives across the United States.
Transition Initiatives are part of a vibrant, international grassroots movement that builds community resilience in response to the challenges of peak oil, climate change and the economic crisis.
Together we can make the transition to a more fulfilling, equitable and sustainable world.
* Training for Transition
Date: January 16, 2010 – January 17, 2010, Binghamton, NY
You are invited to participate in the two-day Training for Transition course – the training workshop from the global Transition Towns movement. The Binghamton Regional Sustainability Coalition (BRSC) invites those interested in creating a more resilient community and enhancing the quality of life in our region to join us in learning about the Transition Towns model from three of the trainers in the U.S. Through envisioning, planning and action, we will come together to build regional resilience and address the triple challenges of peak oil, climate change and economic instability.
BRSC’s goal is to start a Transition Initiative (TI) in our community. At the training we will learn how to facilitate a large-scale conversation & practical projects to enhance local food systems, renewable energy & efficiency, sustainable transportation & land use, & more. We will explore ways of involving more people & supporting broader community engagement. Join us to learn about a citizen initiative that can help us increase passion & commitment to remake our beautiful valley into a more sustainable & prosperous place to live!
