A group gathered to rally in appreciation for Representative Massa's vote against the Stupek-Pitts Amendment. The amendment would put a ban on abortion coverage in any insurance plan participating in the new insurance "exchange".
Although, Representatives Slaughter and Maffei both voted against the amendment, in the end they put the health care bill before women's rights by voting for the bill with the amendment in it. I guess they felt that they valued pushing this health care bill through the House more than they valued women's reproductive rights.
