Urgent appeal from tireless rights worker in Sodus
Dear all,
A Latino was detained this past Saturday. That is nothing new.
He was with his wife and 4 year old son. That is nothing new.
He came to this country to raise enough money to pay for health care for his
8 year old daughter who is critically ill in Mexico. That is nothing new.
What is new about this?
He was arrested ON the steps of the Church of the Epiphany in Sodus, after he walked to the church to find Mass, which unfortunately would not occur until the next afternoon.
This is against everything the DHS has said it would do, it is against the principles of what we thought President Obama and Secretary Napolitano had stated. In fact, DHS has a directive that states that federal agents would not approach churches, schools, or health centers.
Please express your disgust to your congressman and senator as loudly and as quickly as you can. If they are not fixing the problem, they are the problem.
We have many families who do not have clothes and blankets for this fall. If anyone knows of sources, please pass this on.
