NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) held it's legal seminar in Aspen, CO, June, 2006.
Anita Thompson, Hunter's widow, invited all to party at Owl Farm.
A great time was had by all in Aspen and at Hunter Thompson's Owl Farm.
“It was the Law of the Sea, they said. Civilization ends at the waterline. Beyond that, we all enter the food chain, and not always right at the top.†Hunter S Thompson
Slow news day today so far. I will try to fill you all in on some of my bio here. This will not be the typical way to show one's bio, but I think this format will be more interesting. On the Democrat & Chronicle web site, I daily post comments under the name of "Hunter Thompson". Here is something for you all to view on You Tube.

It just so happens that this past Thursday night, at Danny Deutsch's famed Abilene Lounge in Rochester, there was a reunion of all but one of the members of the famous Rochester band, Bahama Mama. Harry Davis & Gary Whipple were roadies back in 1980 for this exciting reggae music band. Jame Kraut, totally talented writer & muscian was the guest of honor.
As Chris Wilmot, editor of the Smugtown Beacon puts it:
Harry Davis was once:
* A 'roadie' for the defunct but locally famous musical band "Bahama Mama".

"As stated earlier, this is Harry Davis' third run for public office. In 2003, Harry pursued Rochester City Council as a 'write-in' candidate (not successful). In 2005, Davis ran again for council, campaigning with Chris Maj (pronounced "may"), who supported the legalization (or at least the de-criminalization) of marijuana. During that ill-fated 2005 campaign, Davis also became friendly with politicos Chris Edes & Max Kessler."
I lived in Aspen, CO for a very long time, first visit being 1971 when there were still dirt streets there. I ski bummed there the same time Howard Dean was doing the same here. I had a contract with The Aspen Skiing Company to videotape skiers on 4 mountains. I was a DJ & television technical director for KSPN Radio/TV in Aspen, Colorado. I was a video producer for Greenpeace with their boat "The Beluga." We traveled the Great Lakes in the summer of 1988 from Montreal to Chicago, including Rochester. I would shoot video of pipe plugging or banner hangings on tall buildings and ship the video immediately to CNN in Atlanta for TV viewing. I produced an environmental radio program with former WCMF DJ Gary Whipple, one of my best pals till this day."
In 2006, I visited Aspen with Keith Stroup, founder of NORML. You can see me in this video with the short sleeves, orange shirt on. Sheriff Bob Barudis, the legend & best pal of Hunter can be seen in the video. He was/is a friend of mine since about 1982. I first visited Owl Farm at about 4AM when I drove taxi for Mellow Yellow Taxi in Aspen. I was delivering a young woman in taxi to the home of HST. Hunter had a cardboard sign in the window that said: "Go away or I will shoot you!"
Happy Birthday, Hunter (July 17)

Some of my friends were Jimmy Ibbotson of the Nifty Gritty Dirt Band, Bob Braudis, and of course, Gary Whipple who still resides in Aspen. I was friendly with Amory Lovins, founder of the Rocky Mountain Institute. I would hang with Jack Nicholson in the Jerome Bar in the famous Hotel Jerome in Aspen. I still do in my mind. Aspen is truly paradise.
Rochester can become a place which we can all be prode of, too! For Rochester, Regarding plans for Renaissance Square
The Sheriff Bob Braudis/Juan episode was a very funny. I was talking with Bob along with the Rocky Mt. News reporter on the deck in front of the house; all the guns were going off in the back ground. Then a man walked up looking very stern; he said "Bob, the neighbors don't think this gunfire is very funny; it really must stop now! You are disturbing all of the neighbors!" He identified himself as a Pitkin County Commissioner. Bob walked back to the gun range. Bob asked Juan to stop firing. Juan said, "But sheriff, I just loaded another clip!" Bob said, "Ok, just shoot off that one and stop."
