International Socialist Organization Call for Protest of California Supreme Court Ruling
Rochester, N.Y., May 26th, 2009 – International Socialist Organization calls on the community to protest curbing of civil rights in California
Five states have now legalized equal marriage granting those rights to gays and lesbians enjoyed by heterosexual couples nationwide, but with the California Supreme Court's decision today to uphold a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, the battle for civil rights is clearly far from over. Join us today, the Day of Decision (http://dayofdecision.org/), in protesting the subordination of our brothers and sisters to second-class citizenship. Add your voices with ours as we demand the repeal of Proposition 8 and the passage of New York State's Equal Marriage Bill. Power concedes nothing without a demand, it never has and it never will!
We will be demonstrating at the Liberty Pole with a banner reading "From CA to NY ; Marriage is a Civil Right". Please join us in our protest and display your opposition as you choose.
WHAT: "International Socialist Organization Action for Equal Marriage"
WHEN: Tuesday, May 26th at 5:30pm till 7pm at the Liberty Pole
