Hear committed individuals with backgrounds in education, law, activism and the military give concise background on how “No Child Left Behind†pressures schools to turn over private information to military recruiters, how our local policy has protected student rights and what we can do to make sure it stays that way.
Participate in a workshop with student leaders and educator/activists on:
1. How to speak effectively at school board meetings
2. “ Battle of the Story†- constructing counter-narratives to military ad campaigns that target students facing tough economic and social realities.
3. Fundamentals of school based counter-recruiting/conscientious objection.
Do hands on work to prepare for an organized presence at the school board meeting the following evening, and network for shared struggles ahead.
