London Brings Back Memories of St. Paul
Primary tabs
As I read and see the coverage of the G-20 protests in London by London Indy Media, it brings back the memories of my experiences in St. Paul at the RNC.
The similarities I see are scary as hell. The police actions taken before the summit started in an attempt to intimidate and disrupt the protests are just like the raids prior to St. Paul of Food Not Bombs, I-Witness Video and the arrest of Welcoming Committee Members. The raids on the convergence centers, the confiscation of video and photographic equipment, detainment of protesters, arrests, aggressive police action, illegal searches and corporate media propaganda and skewed reporting are all things I witnessed in St. Paul.
It angers and saddens me that the global power structure continues to try to suppress dissent. It excites, motivates and gives me hope that the people continue to fight the repression and refuse to be silenced.
