Dear Members and Friends of RAVS and Animal Rights Advocates of Upstate NY (ARAUNY) ,
We would like to announce a CHANGE IN PROGRAM for the December RAVS meeting. Instead of a cooking demo, we will have a lecture by Michael Greger, M. D. Dr. Greger is a nationally known speaker who has lectured in Rochester on several previous occasions; he is always dynamic, brilliant, and very funny. Do not miss this opportunity to hear him speak! ARAUNY will co-sponsor this event.
PLEASE ATTEND the December meeting of the Rochester Area Vegetarian Society to hear the following:
Michael Greger, M.D. speaks on "The Latest in Human Nutrition 2008"
WHEN: Sunday, December 21, 2008, 5:30 PM Vegan Dinner, 7:00 PM Program
WHERE: Brighton Town Park Lodge, 777 Westfall Road, Rochester NY
DINNER: Dinner is a vegan potluck. Vegan means no animal products (no meat, poultry, fish, eggs, or dairy products). Please bring a dish with enough to serve a crowd and a serving utensil; also bring a place setting for your own dinner. We can help non-vegetarians or others uncertain about how to make or bring a vegan dish; please call 234-8750 for help. There will also be an entirely optional vegan cookie exchange: take home as many as you bring.
PROGRAM: Michael Greger, M.D. is the Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States. Dr. Greger has scoured the world's scholarly literature on clinical nutrition and developed this brand-new talk on the latest in cutting-edge research. He will introduce an engaging new interactive quiz-show format that lets us test our nutrition knowledge with some surprising outcomes. Focusing on studies published in peer-reviewed scientific nutrition journals during the last year, Dr. Greger offers practical advice on how best to feed ourselves and our families to prevent, treat, and even reverse chronic disease. His presentation will begin promptly at 7:00 PM.
DIRECTIONS: The Lodge is on Westfall between E. Henrietta Rd (15A) and S. Clinton Rd. From Route 390, take Exit 16 onto 15A and go north to traffic light. Turn right on Westfall Rd. Lodge on south side of Westfall; it is a log cabin set well back from the road, and the driveway leading to the Lodge is called "Haudenosaunee Trail."
COST: Free to RAVS and ARAUNY members. $3 guest fee for non-members, unless you join at the meeting.
PLEASE PASS ON THIS INFORMATION IN ANY WAY YOU CAN.
