ROCHESTER ALLIANCE FOR IMMIGRANT RIGHTS

In May of this year, again in August, and just today the Department of Homeland Security through Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried
out some of the biggest anti-worker raids in U.S. history.

This is a time to come together.

We call on people from every walk of life, from every nationality, African American, Latino, Asian, Arab, Native, and white, U.S. or foreign born, in a union or unorganized to come out on October 12.

October 12 is part of a national day of action in over 30 cities. This day is known in the Latino community as Dia de la Raza and is a day for
Indigenous People as a counter to the Christopher Columbus day, which is a day of conquest and disaster for the Americas.

Join us on October 12 to tell the Bush administration and all the presidential candidates: Stop the raids & deportations.
We demand

Justice for the victims of the Sept 28 raid in Sodus

Money for education and health care not for war in our communities

Immediate legalization for undocumented workers and their families

Solidarity not anti immigrant racism

NO to I.C.E. raids, racial profiling, and police brutality

No to local police enforcing immigration laws

Yes to sanctuary cities and churches

PLEASE BRING OFFERINGS OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES TO BE DISPLAYED DURING THE RALLY AND DONATED TO THOSE IN NEED.

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
