When the boats from the Free Gaza Movement left the Gaza strip Donna Wallach and other stayed in Gaza to continue their work. Donna will continue to escort Palestinians as they attempt to go fishing past the 6 miles out that the Israeli Navy limits them to. Another act of solidarity that she discussed was the attempt to help a Palestinian get needed medical treatment. A 64 year old Palestinian women from Beit Hanoun who was escorted by another Palestinian and the remaining people from the Free Gaza Movement as they pushed her in a wheel chair to the Erez boarder crossing. The 64 year old women was suffering from a tumor in her spine and will become paralyzed if she does not get the proper treatment. The group placed themselves in front of her as they were walking to the boarder. They walked slowly towards the Gaza boarder while holding their hands in the air and making their passports visible. As they walked towards the crossing guarded by Israeli's the Palestinian warned the other members that they had to stop because he was told that the Israeli soldiers would shoot. The group preceded anyways till they arrived at the crossing. The women was eventually turned away by the Israeli officials but was told that she could return an 8th time. The 64 year old Palestinian and the people from the Free Gaza Movement returned again. This time on on Sunday August 31st. The people from the Free Gaza Movement waited near the gate in solidarity as the women was escorted to the boarder crossing. Finally, they heard she was turned away. She was told that she could not leave Gaza to get medical treatment unless she was escorted by members of her family. It turns out everybody in her family had been blacklisted by the Israeli government. Finally the women's 75 year old husband was granted permission to enter Israel with her. After he arrived and filled out the paper work, he was allowed in . The people from the Free Gaza Movement were told that the women kept on telling the Israeli authorities that they were waiting at the Erez crossing to make sure she would be able to enter.
