The first meeting for a radical queer book club will be this Sunday, April 13th at 9pm at Equal Grounds. What makes this book club different:

One: The book list probably will not include Amy Tan
Two: My choice of Amy Tan is completely arbitrary
Three: If someone can come up with a good enough reason why Amy Tan should be considered in reference to radical politics, then our book list could include Amy Tan
Four: Radical as an adjective has fluid possibilities
Five: We can read fiction, non-fiction, theory
Six: We as a non-hierarchical collective of individuals can work together to choose our materials
Seven: Queer as an adjective has fluid possibilities
Eight: It's a frame of mind, not necessarily a sex act
Nine: Ifs ands or buts are wonderful things
Ten: Passionate reading allows for passionate debate and passionate debate allows for passionate action

This is a preliminary meeting in order organize those who are interested in coming together and reading as radically as we choose fit. All are welcome!

Equal Grounds is located at 750 South Ave in the South Wedge.

Account Creation Policy Change

Rochester Indymedia is now requiring editor approval for account creation.

We came to this decision after we had repeated spam posted to our website that caused difficulty with the website's functioning.  We will still have open publishing and keep our site as nonrestrictive and accessible as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.  As before, we will continue to be Rochester's grassroots news and education site.  Thank you for your continued support and remember, "Don't hate the media, be the media!"

Editorial Meeting Times / Locations

The Rochester Independent Media Center (R-IMC) is no longer meeting regularly.
We will set up meetings by necessity and appointment. Please contact us at rochesterindymedia@rocus.org.
Our home is still the Flying Squirrel Community Space at 285 Clarissa St. Occasionally, we hold meetings at RCTV located at 21 Gorham Street.
