Charles (“Chuckâ€) Kaufman, a steadfast leader of the fight for freedom and justice in Latin America, will receive the International White Dove Award. Chuck has served as National Co-Coordinator of the Nicaragua Network for the past 15 years. He also is the Interim National Coordinator for the newly formed Venezuela Solidarity Network. Since 1987 he has been opposing misguided U.S. policy towards Latin America.
Sarah Brownell and Kevin Foos will receive the Local White Dove Awards for their extraordinary work with the people of Borgne, Haiti. Sarah, an engineer who works on sustainable energy, is co-founder of SOIL (Sustainable Organic Integrated Livelihoods), whose goal is to promote simple environmental technologies and techniques in Northern Haiti. Kevin is the Director of SOIL. He also is a photographer and organizer and works on community development.
Last year, the auction was a highlight of the evening, and ROCLA is planning an exciting one this year, including a week at a vacation home in Hawaii!
