Gandhi preached nonviolence. On the Eve of Gandhi's birth ~ Internationally recognized Wildlife Preservationist, Anthony Marr, will address NonLethal Deer Management, as well as how to avoid deer-car collisions: Streiter Lites, immunocontraception, and more.
An anti-hunting activist, Marr founded HOPE (Heal Our Planet Earth). Born and raised in China, having earned a physics degree from U.BritishColumbia, Marr has traveled the world advocating on behalf of nonhuman animals.
Now on this 5th CARE tour (Compassion for Animals Road Expedition), from his home in Vancouver Canada, Marr is on the road again for ~5 months, visiting ~35 states, to address "NON-LETHAL METHODS of DEER MANAGEMENT".
Concerned about deer in your backyard, and wandering city neighborhoods?
Worried about having a deer-car collision?
Tired of "bait and shoot" being used as a solution year after year?
"The mass slaughter of urban and suburban deer is spreading like wild fire across the nation. If there are deer in your city, the killers will be there, soon, if not already", says Marr.
Leader of the "Deer Tour" (www.HOPE-CARE.org), Marr says, “Few civilized people want to see deer and fawns killed by captive-bolts or arrows right in a neighbor’s backyard in full view of their traumatized children, nor feel totally safe with bullets streaking within yards of their bedrooms. But they shrug in resignation because they have been indoctrinated to accept killing as an indispensable solution to deer problems, and have no alternative vision of a viable non-lethal solution to strive for or championâ€.
Marr will present the new NonViolent Integrated Human-Deer Co-existence Strategy based on all categories of non-lethal methods, including the newest one-dose-multi-year immunocontraception technologies due for general certification by the EPA as early as 2008. "When specifically designed for a community and properly implemented, it can displace all lethal methods in their entirety," says Marr.
"Other than the cruelty aspect, culling is a self-perpetuating industry," says Marr. "Once it is adopted as a deer management measure, it will have to be repeated every year or two, due to the Compensatory Rebound Effect by which the population could re-establish itself to former levels within 1-3 years," asserts Marr, adding "and it is not even effective in reducing deer-vehicle accidents (DVAs). It benefits no one but the cullers themselves."
This event is FREE and open to the public. It is the mission of this dedicated educator to guide others toward a more compassionate world for all beings.
