Leaders of Rural New York Speak Out Against Iraq War: Rural Americans Have Carried the Biggest Burden of the War
National Campaign Takes Rep. Kuhl to Task for Giving Bush Blank Check on War Funding
Elmira, NY – While the war in Iraq enters its 5th year and violence continues to escalate, local leaders will join with peace activists in a press conference to call on Rep. John R. “Randy†Kuhl, Jr. (R-29) and the rest of Congress to force a rapid end to the reckless war in Iraq.
Speakers at the press conference will discuss the disproportionate burden placed on rural New Yorkers.
The press conference is one of several events being held this summer in association with “America Speaks Out on the War,†a national project featuring voices from different walks of life in support of a safe and responsible end to the war. Also, this press conference will be bringing together local community leaders involved in the national coalition: Americans Against Escalation in Iraq. Americans Against Escalation in Iraq is a national campaign comprised of a variety groups from across the political spectrum that are committed to bringing an end to the reckless and seemingly endless conflict in Iraq.
