Markese F. Brown 04/09/07 Creating social change PETSPA The Unknown Evil Back in my day people would clean their pets by hand. We would put them in a tub, soak them, soap them, rinse, then dry. Even though in most cases the pet will resist against you, it is worth it. Because in the end, not only do you get a clean pet, but it also feels good to have done the washing yourself. What if I told you that you didn’t need to clean your pets by hand anymore? What if I told you that there was a machine that cleans your pet for you? Your probably thinking right now, that is not possible. But it is! The machine I’m talking about is called petspa. PetSpa was a machine created by a man named Andres Diaz with a team of engineers, animal behaviorists, and veterinarians. PetSpa is an enclosed cabin that de-fleas and blows dries small animals in less than 15 minutes. Inside the cabin is a precise dosage center that delivers different medications and chemicals at exact amounts and intervals. The cabins drying process uses the air and distributes it evenly throughout the machine. The Pet spa also eliminates stress because no one is restraining the pet and the nozzle gives a hydro muscular massage that relaxes the animal. PetSpa has an interior light and is fitted with safety. It includes a touch sensitive automated system that will allow for easy control of the cabin. The unique nozzles make the shower efficient, effective, and relaxing. The machine is built with high resistance materials that guarantee durability and efficiency. Cats, dogs, and other small animals can go Into the PetSpa. Even humans can go Into the PetSpa. That’s right, humans also. PetSpa sounds like a great machine. All you have to do Is pop you’re animal In the cabinet, set the controls, press start, then let PetSpa do It's thing. It would seem like a dream. But, in actuality it is a nightmare. Recently a video going under the titles “cat washing machine" or "kitty washing machine" has appeared on Internet. The video depicts a cat put into the PetSpa, and then acting crazy once the machine starts up. The cat is clawing at the window screen and jumping around the cabinet, trying to get out. As the water is spraying against the poor animal, it is helplessly trying to escape the damned contraption. Some viewers thought it was the funniest thing they ever saw. But others were offended by what was being shown. I was personally offended by what I saw, because I love cats. A lot of people were outraged by the video, but not as much as the inventor of the PetSpa. He felt that the video was totally misrepresenting the PetSpa. He said that the cat in the video was not well suited, behavior wise, for the PetSpa. The inventor, Andres Diaz, says that cats like that should be sedated before being put into the PetSpa. Andres Diaz is worried that the video will destroy the image of his company. He is also worried that sales will plummet when people see the video. "It's definitely going to affect our image and our company," Mr. Diaz said about the video. Andres Diaz also says "Somebody is misrepresenting what we really stand for.†Currently Andres Diaz is trying to get youtube to take the video off of their site. Ordinary cleaning methods may not be precise or fast, but what ever happened to people taking initiative for their own work. Anyone who finds this video as offensive as me and hundreds of other people, we must take action. We can protest through letter, email, and etc. We have to make people realize whats going here. The petspa is pet abuse in diguise. We have to take a stand and put a stop to this! To protest against the petspa, you first have to write or email letters of protest to pet groomers or pet stores that have petspa. you must convince them to take their products off the shelves. The next step is to write or email letters of protest to the manufacturer of petspa. The contact information of the manufacturer is: Pet Spa USA www.petspausa.com Email: info@petspausa.com 4743 NW 72nd Ave, Miami,FL,33166 Phone:800-973-8772 Fax: 305-594-8755 Then to take the protest to the next level, you have to report the company creating petspa to ASPCA, PETA, and the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida. You can contact ASPCA at (212)-876-7700 during normal business hours, monday-friday, 9:00 A.M.- 5:00 P.M.
