Being in the minority must be so frustrating

As much as you lie to yourself that "the world is against this war," it's not. Most Americans want Saddam Hussein boxed in Guantanamo, or in the ground - either way works for us. And by most I mean just that: Most. And most of the rest of the world truly doesn't care - this is far more them venting their frustration at our being #1 than it is about them actually giving a rat's behind about the Iraqi people, US Soldiers, or world peace.
Unfortunately, you live in a democracy, where the majority rules. In this case, it's a super-majority, so you're twice-stuffed.
As for world opinion, who cares? Most of the people we actually need agree with us. Do you think the people of Mexico are so incensed by this that they'll stop coming across our border for work? Do you think enough Canadians will stop buying Intel or AMD semiconductors that we'll even notice?
The number of people protesting this war is a joke, particularly when you factor in the large percentage of the whole that would protest Spring if they thought it would get them 12 seconds of camera time on the local (read "tiny") news.
This isn't a war about oil, it's a war about US Security. It's a war aimed at rooting out the elements that imminently threaten us. UBL clearly stated that he attacked us on 9/11 to protest "infidels in the Holy Land." Those are his words, not mine. Why are our troops in Saudi Arabia? Because they asked us to leave them there to protect them from Iraq. Because if we don't enforce the no-fly zones, all sorts of bad things would happen. We're not getting 2 drams of oil from Iraq, but we've had our men and women flying over there and getting shot at for 11 years now, even as the oil flows to our friends in France.
There's no oil in Afghanistan, but we went in, and there's no oil in N. Korea or Iran, where we quite possibly will go unless their governments (if you want to call them that) cool themselves WAY down. It's not about oil.
And the vast majority of Americans know this. They know that if this was about getting re-elected, or oil, the president could have simply stated "Iraq is in full compliance, we are standing down," when Hans Blix first arrived and the economy would have soared, Chirac would have kissed him full on the lips, and they'd erect a painting of him in Germany.
But the American populace would have none of it, because we know it to be false. And we know that any organization like the UN that puts Iraq on the Disarmament Council, and Libya on the Human Rights council, can't be taken seriously.
We know this, because we're informed. We're the same people who marched on Montgomery, the same people who threw out Nixon, and the same people who will paint Clinton as the abject and complete failure that he is. We've supported just wars, and we've stopped unjust ones. And we know that this is a just war.
We're informed, we're just, and we're people of action. We're also incredibly opposed to the opinions expressed here, even as we defend your right to have them. Somewhere in the back of our thoughts we even ask ourselves "I wonder if they'd do the same for us?"
So have your opinions, kids. Meet at the "liberty pole," paint your hate-filled signs, and pound those bongos. Talk about becoming "human shields" against the great oppressor without actually doing it. We'll watch you with bemusement and will continue to strike up conversations at lunch tables, in checkout lines, in waiting rooms, and on the web. And we'll continue to be 50 times as effective as you are not because we're better debaters.
It's because we're right, and you're wrong.
