On Tuesday, April 24th Sexual Orientations United for Liberation (SOUL) at SUNY Brockport along with Brockport’s Women’s Studies Organization and Rochester Indymedia presents For the Money: Films from Queer and Feminist Women in the Sex Industry.
Documentarian Becky Goldberg presents a feminist and lesbian take on the porn industry in the film Hot and Bothered: Feminist Pornography. Working in a traditionally male run industry, Hot and Bothered examines the changing role of women as actresses, producers and directors within porn. Fighting stereotypes and patriarchal values, these women examine female sexuality and how its representation interweaves with politics and economics.
Live Nude Girls Unite! follows Julia Query, a lesbian and peepshow-stripper, in her experience organizing the first stripper’s union in the United States. In addition its activist poignancy, Live Nude Girls presents the hilarity and frustration of working within the stripping industry.
