Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON) www.peacecouncil.net/NOON/ Tuesday, March 20: Onondaga Land Rights Update, at 7 p.m. at Syracuse Stage, 820 E. Genesee St., Syracuse. This program is a followup to the successful series "Onondaga Land Rights and Our Common Future." We'll hear a preview of the case the Onondagas will present in court the following week. More details will come shortly. Wednesday, March 28: Oral Arguments on the Onondaga Land Rights Action, 1 p.m. Federal District Court in Albany, 445 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207. This will be the first opportunity for the Onondagas to make their case in court that their land was taken illegally and that they retain their aboriginal title to the land. NOON will organize carpooling from Syracuse, leaving at 9 am and returning that evening. Contact NOON at noon@peacecouncil.net or 472-5478 to participate. About NOON Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON) is a grassroots organization of Central New Yorkers which recognizes and supports the sovereignty of the traditional government of the Onondaga Nation. It is a program of the Syracuse Peace Council. NOON supports the right of native peoples to reclaim land, and advocates for fair settlement of any claims which are filed. The goals of NOON are to: * Promote understanding of and respect for the Onondaga people and culture within the broader Central New York community * Educate ourselves and others about the history of the relations between the US and the Onondaga Nation * Challenge racism towards native peoples * Work with the Onondaga Nation on matters of mutual concern
