"GETTING REAL ABOUT RACE: Reclaiming Discourse in Demogogic Times"
Primary tabs
Friends,
PeaceWorks of Greater Rochester is resuming its schedule of Friday lunchtime programs, beginning with:
"GETTING REAL ABOUT RACE: Reclaiming Discourse in Demogogic Times"
Presented by Bruce A. Jacobs, author of Race Manners: Navigating the Minefield Between Black and White Americans. Bruce will not have copies of his book to sell, but will sign copies brought to the presentation.
Time: 11:45 to 12:45
Date: Friday, February 16th
Place: St. John Fisher College, 3690 East Avenue (north of Pittsford on Route 96).
Held in the "COP Conference Room" on the second floor of the Campus Center. Park in Lot A or B near the East Avenue entrance. Walk north into the campus along the left side of Kearney Hall (with the steeple). The order of buildings is Kearney, then Lavery Library, then the Campus Center. This is a little bit of a walk from the parking lot.
You are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee and tea will be served.
PeaceWorks Friday programs ordinarily consist of three speakers presenting what their groups are doing in some area of interest. I called Charlotte Clarke for guidance on an anti-racism program, and she realized Bruce Jacobs would be in town then, invited him to present, and we are honored to have him. Bruce will read from his book and have a signing at Barnes and Noble 7:00 PM on 2/16.
Save the dates: Two more Friday lunch sessions are planned at SJFC: 3/9 and 3/30. Programs not yet finalized.
SEE YOU THERE!
