Lewandowski was a member of Mayor Ryan's Upland Watershed Advisory Committee from 1985-87, a founder of the Coalition for Hemlock and Canadice Lakes (1988) and the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Task Force (1989). He was employed as an Environmental Educator by the Ontario County Soil and Water Conservation District for 24 years and involved with the creation of watershed management plans for Honeoye, Cayuga, Canandaigua, Keuka and Seneca Lakes.
