April 3rd, 2006 SUNY Brockport Graduating Social Work Senior student Amanda Vance, began her "tent city" vigil this afternoon on the lawn behind the Seymour Student Union, and will continue into Wednesday. She is soaked, hungry, but not disheartened as she sleeps outside for two days to draw attention to homelessness and poverty. This is also a means of raising funds for the Rochester group, Poor People United, to help them continue their "hypothermia bus" which has provided shelter the past two winters in Rochester for homeless individuals who can not or will not be sheltered elsewhere when temperatures are freezing.
