There's no wiggle room when it comes to our civil liberties. You either support the Bill of Rights -- or you join the ranks of it's enemies. In a recent letter to the Times Union ()(Albany, NY), Troy, New York resident, Mark Worden contends that it's OK with him if the government monitors some U.S. citizens "without the legal niceties of a court order."

Worden writes: "make no mistake, this is no small thing. In allowing this sort of expediency, we are giving up some of our freedom and granting the government a great power. It is a very real sacrifice, and it should not be taken lightly."

Worden states, "for my part, I am willing to make that sacrifice as one truly necessary to help fight terrorism and prevent attacks on our country. I hope others will look at it in the same way and give our government some benefit of the doubt. We cannot afford to be "Bushophobic" and react emotionally or from political partisanship. Instead, we should recognize that another attack is probable and allow our government every available tool to detect it," he said.

I have a real problem with Mark Worden and his ilk.
