Little Jerusalem Film Review
Little Jerusalem (LA PETITE JERUSALEM) 2005, is an interesting film because it takes you inside a culture that is seldom seen to outsiders. It illustrates the struggles of young people when they attempt to step outside of their cultural upbringing. Little Jerusalem gives you the feeling that you are living with these characters and becoming involved in their lives.
The cast includes Fanny Valette, Elsa Zylberstein, Bruno Todeschini, Hedi Tillette de Clermont Tonnerre, Sonia Tahar, Michael Cohen, Aurore Clement, Francois Marthouret.
The main character Laura is philosophy student who is drawn to the work of Kant. Laura begins to question the beliefs of her orthodox family.Set in Paris it explores the life of a young Jewish woman of Tunisia and her romance with a Muslim man from Algeria.
It is a relevant film also because of the relationship between this young Jewish woman and a Muslim man who desire to be together despite objections on both their families sides.
