DEMOCRAT & CHRONICLE ENDORSES HILDERBRANT!
(October 26, 2005) — Chris Hilderbrant has a history of trying to make Monroe County a better place for people with disabilities. His experience as a reformer, and his focus on new ideas makes Hilderbrant the Democrat and Chronicle's choice for election to the 6th District seat in the county.
As the director of advocacy at the Center for Disability Rights, Hilderbrant has made waves at many levels of government. Last year CDR was instrumental in getting the state to implement a Medicaid waiver
that allows seniors and people with disabilities to receive assistance at home rather being forced into expensive health care institutions. That's much better for people in need of moderate care and for state taxpayers.
Hilderbrant, a 29 year-old Green and Working Families party candidate, also has a sharp focus on economic development.
He is right that the county should find new ways to support small businesses that are filling the void left by lost manufacturing jobs.
Patricia Amato, who is running on the Democratic and Save Jobs party lines, is the wife of Fred Amato, the longtime 6th District legislator. Amato, 64, clearly wants to improve Monroe County.
Ray DiRaddo, the Greece town attorney who is running on the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines, is well respected in the community. With his background as a Greece town judge and a member of
Greece Town Council, DiRaddo, 55, is certainly well qualified.
But Hilderbrant's reform efforts and fresh perspective make him our choice.
