Hilderbrant Receives Labor Council Endorsement

Chris Hilderbrant, Green & Working Families Parties' candidate for County Legislature in District 6 has just received the endorsement of the Rochester Labor Council. <!--break--> <p>Greece, NY – Chris Hilderbrant, disability rights activist and candidate for Monroe County Legislature announced today that he had received the endorsement of the Rochester Labor Council.  The Rochester Labor Council, a division of the nationwide AFL-CIO, represents more than 65,000 workers in the Rochester area.</p><p>Hilderbrant, who will be running on the Green Party and Working Families Party lines on the November 8th ballot, was “unanimously affirmed at the regular meeting of our delegate body on September 8, 2005,” said James Bertalone, President of the Rochester Labor Council.</p><p>The AFL-CIO was created in 1955 by the merger of the American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations.  Since its founding, the AFL-CIO and its affiliate unions have been the single most effective force in America for enabling working people to build better lives and futures for our families.</p><p>“The Rochester Labor Council has endorsed me for many of the same reasons that the Working Families Party, Green Party, and voters of Greece and Charlotte support me,” stated Hilderbrant.  “They know that I am a leader who is fiercely committed to an improving quality of life for the people I represent.  We will fight for more jobs, better pay, better health insurance and better education for our children.”</p><p>In endorsing Hilderbrant’s candidacy, the Rochester Labor Council joins the National Organization of Women and the Rochester chapter of Democracy for America, as well as endorsements by the Green Party and Working Families Party.  “Chris is a great leader and great candidate,” said Jason Nabewaniec, co-chair of the Green Party of Monroe County.  “We are glad that the Rochester Labor Council has given him their support.</p><p>If elected, Hilderbrant would join over 400 other Greens who have been elected across the nation. </p><p>For more information on the Rochester Labor Council, please visit <a href="http://www.rochesterlabor.org/">www.rochesterlabor.org</a>.  </p><p />
