This is Brian from IMC-Ithaca (bks10 at cornell.edu). I've fixed up the reply and event posting bugs. If you find any bugs, let me know.
There might be some issues with mail delivery (which is needed to verify new users). If you post sign up as a new user (by replying, or posting an article or event) and don't get an email with verification instructions back, please let me know what your email address is so I can look in to the problem further.
When I get some more free time, I will take a look at the photo code and try to get that working.
