Then, on the following Sunday morning, go visit a group of churches located in the core or central part of the city. But since the T-shirt "issue" apparently represents the low-level of discussion in which people are willing to engage --- then in all fairness --- we must ask where are the sensational, repetitious headlines about the fact that Republican mayoral candidate John Parrinello has accused former-police-chief-turned-'populist'-political-candidate Robert Duffy of "smoking pot, and undermining minority deputy police chiefs?" Yet, the multinational Gannett - owned, local mouthpiece for the rich and famous --- is clearly demonstrating a type of twisted, covert, but obvious support for Robert 'bad-cop' Duffy's campaign. What is the evidence for this bold charge? The most outstanding proof is revealed by comparing the scrutiny under which the D&C and other major media are placing Wade Norwood's campaign, as opposed to Duffy's.

The most classic of examples is the manner and degree to which the D&C in particular has sensationalized the so-called racially divisive issue of a "don't sell out" slogan on a T-shirt. What an insult to black voters --- the idea that we will be persuaded not to vote for a white candidate solely because of a slogan on a damn T-shirt. How insulting, how ludicrous. Apparently, the political pundits and mind readers have determined that the slogan is intended to cause racial divisiveness between black and white people relative to choices of mayoral candidates.

The D&C has published at least 3 "news" articles and 2 OP EDs about this big "issue." Lame-duck Mayor William Johnson has been quoted in at least one of the above referenced articles as having said, "Norwood should stamp out those kind of racial politics. This sends a very bad message that doesn't reflect positively on Wade at all." One major media source even featured a picture of the now famous T-shirt.

This whole facade is so very utterly ridiculous. No one has to cause divisiveness between the overwhelming majority of those within the black and white communities of Rochester, and certainly not those of Monroe County. Any fool, any idiot with half a brain knows that divisiveness between black and white communities is as common, and as American as apple pie (not only in Rochester and Monroe County, but throughout this thoroughly racist nation-state). If you don't think so, travel around to a group of churches located on the outer boundaries of Rochester on any given Sunday morning. Then, on the following Sunday morning, go visit a group of churches located in the core or central part of the city. If that doesn't convince you, take a tour of Rochester's public high schools on opening day in September. Then, on the following day, go visit the private and parochial schools located on the outer fringes of the city.

When will we stop running and hiding behind false issues that surround the real, fundamental, potentially explosive issue regarding continued existence and perpetuation of individual and institutionalized racism in Rochester and across the nation? If we are serious about combating racial divisiveness --- the latter issue is what we really need to be discussing --- rather than a slogan on a T-shirt. What hypocrisy! But since the T-shirt "issue" apparently represents the low-level of discussion in which people are willing to engage --- then in all fairness --- we must ask where are the sensational, repetitious headlines about the fact that Republican mayoral candidate John Parrinello has accused former-police-chief-turned-'populist'-political-candidate Robert Duffy of "smoking pot, and undermining minority deputy police chiefs?" In addition, Parrinello has practically begged Duffy to sue him regarding the public comments quoted above. Again, we don't have to be rocket scientists to figure out that Duffy's refusal to respond to the comments --- is in essence, a possible admission to the accusations.

Considering the fact that his buddy Bob Lonsberry has declared support for Duffy in the mayoral campaign --- where are the D&C's sensational news stories and pictures from Lonsberry's Website showing people in KKK garb --- portraying "GAY BLACK JEWISH KLANSMEN FOR TOLERANCE AND UNDERSTANDING" --- while standing underneath the following slogans: "WADE'S CAMPAIGN MANAGERS ... he's learned bill johnson's lessons well, hasn't he? Can't we just all get along? Sure just don't sell out, right Wade?" And, where are the news stories with quotes from Mayor Johnson regarding Lonsberry's latest, vile racist acts, i.e. allowing such low-down, disgusting garbage to be published on his Website? I can't help but wonder if Mayor Johnson still believes that Lonsberry was sincere in his half hearted apology to Johnson for referring to him (Johnson) as a "monkey" and "orangutan" during the most recent political race for Monroe County Executive? In my humble view --- we have reached a critical point ---at which it is time for the lame duck mayor to either be consistent and even-handed with his admonishments, or keep his mouth closed --- that's only fair.

Again, when the alleged pot-smoking, ex-police chief (whom John Parrinello has also insinuated is racist) was asked by the media whether or not he is willing to denounce the above referenced, vile, racist material, which appears on his buddy Bob Lonsberry's Website --- Duffy responded by not responding. That is, he claimed that he hasn't seen the material. Well, he no longer has that excuse because I emailed it to him. It is just mind boggling that the media keeps letting this would-be mayor get away with non-responses to critical questions. If I accused the Democrat and Chronicle, and other, white dominated and controlled media of individual and institutionalized racism, and perpetuating racial divisiveness ---would I be wrong? The racist material on Lonsberry's Website, can be viewed at:

www.writersontheloose.com/writers/StephenNatarelli/index.cfm?story=18282.
