Two Democratic Outsiders Earn Spot on Primary Ballot

July 13, Rochester:

Tomorrow, July 14th, at a 12 noon press conference on the South Plymouth Avenue bridge over Route 490, Chris Maj and Harry Davis will announce their submission of sufficient signatures to earn a spot on the September Democratic primary ballot. Maj is a candidate for Mayor of Rochester, and Davis is a candidate for an At-Large seat on the Rochester City Council.

The backdrop for the press conference will be the last skyscraper to be built in
Rochester/>/> for the past twenty years. That's right, the new jail.  At a time when we are shutting down our schools, Chris Maj will ask the question, "By closing schools and opening prisons, are we sending the wrong message to our children?”

 

Maj met and befriended
Davis/>/> at the public market, and they agree on issues like the environment, transportation, and sprawl.  They gathered the required signatures together using a combined petition.

 

As part of his campaign,
Davis/>/> will push for major restructuring of the Rochester Genesee Regional Transit Authority (RGRTA) to quit the hub-and-spoke system and add 7-8 regional bus terminals throughout the bus system. 
Davis/>/> continues his strong campaign against placing the bus terminal for the Renaissance Square at an underground site at the corner of

 

Davis said, “With the recent suggestions of the Urban Land Institute for downtown Rochester, it is clear: objective and informed observers have confirmed what I have been saying all along about the Renaissance Square in my campaign for the Rochester City Council.”
