Rochester-area residents wishing to demonstrate their opposition to the policies of the Bush administration can book round-trip reservations on a bus chartered by Peace Action & Education (PA&E) to Washington, DC, for Inauguration
Day, Thursday Jan. 20.
The bus will depart from Monroe Community College, Lot M-1, at 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 20, and will return by 2 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 21.
Round-trip fare is $60 or $30 for students and the unemployed.
According to PA&E spokesperson Doug Noble, the 48-seat bus will be filled in the order that paid reservations are received. Checks payable to “PA&E†can be mailed to treasurer Ted Wilcox, 225 Croydon Road, Rochester, NY 14610.
Each passenger’s full name, telephone number and e-mail address should
accompany each check.
“The counter-inaugural,†said Noble, “is being sponsored by a variety of
national organizations to demonstrate to the world our continuing opposition to the Bush military and domestic agenda. The demonstration will also affirm our right to free speech and peaceful protest despite the predicted Republican lockdown of the inaugural parade route.â€
PA&E is a task force of Metro Justice, an independent grassroots
organization working for human rights, equality, and economic and environmental justice by raising community awareness and engaging in non-violent action.
