The Green Party of Monroe County (GPoMC) is proud to announce the nomination of David Cobb as the Green Party’s candidate for President of the United States and Pat LaMarche as Vice President. GPoMC lobbied uncommitted New York State delegates at the National Convention to support Cobb and the GPoMC will be working to get his name on the ballot in New York. <!--break--> <font face="Arial"><p><strong>The Green Party of Monroe County (GPoMC) is proud to announce the nomination of David Cobb as the Green Party’s candidate for President of the United States and Pat LaMarche as Vice President.</strong> GPoMC lobbied uncommitted New York State delegates at the National Convention to support Cobb and the GPoMC will be working to get his name on the ballot in New York. </p></font><p>"<font face="Arial">With David Cobb’s nomination, we will now have a true progressive candidate for President this year," said Dave Atias, Chair of GPoMC. </font><strong>"<font face="Arial">While we recognize the dire need to see George Bush’s illegal occupation of the White House come to an end, being in a ‘safe state’, we are not only comfortable, but excited to work on David’s campaign in New York."</font></strong></p><p>"<font face="Arial">Safe states" are ones in which polls show a specific candidate has an insurmountable lead in that state. John Kerry has such numbers in New York, thus making it a "safe state" for Greens.</font></p><p>A<font face="Arial">ccording to Zuza Szewczyk, GPoMC Secretary, "Progressives in Monroe County should invest their votes in the Green Party and David Cobb, not waste their votes on Kerry. <strong>If all the progressives in the county voted for David Cobb, Kerry will still win New York by a resounding margin and the Green Party will continue its growth.</strong></font></p><p>Petitioning in New York for David Cobb to get on the New York State ballot begins July 6<sup>th</sup> and ends August 17<sup>th</sup>.</p><p><strong><font face="Times New Roman">"</font><font face="Arial">And once again, the Green Party is the only political party with a woman on the ticket,"</font></strong> notes GPoMC Vice-Chair, Jason Nabewaniec.  Pat LaMarche is a Green who ran for Governor of Maine in 1998, giving the Green Party ballot access in that state.
