The hard-hitting film juxtaposes clips of a speech by Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman with footage by independent reporters in Iraq. As Goodman describes the mainstream media's willingness to accept fiction despite the truth of the independent film clips, the striking, self-induced deafness of the mainstream media emerges. The Hudson Mohawk Independent Media Center film is a call to action for those seeking to bring the truth to this time of "pacification," blood, and body counts in Iraq. "Independent media has a crucial responsibility to go where the silence is," said Goodman. "First Amendment Blues," a short by IMC member Dawn Zuppelli, was also viewed. The film chronicles the protests at the World Bank/International Monetary Fund meetings in Washington in September of 2002. A spirited discussion of how the films relate to INDY news gathering efforts in the Rochester area, followed the viewings.

Carol Dorsey, of Fairport, was impressed by the resistance non-US journalists showed to governmental authority.
